His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Bashir Abisoye Odesanya-Oloto, Olupejobi II, is the revered traditional ruler of the Otto and Mainland Kingdom of Lagos State, Nigeria. Widely respected as a visionary monarch, accomplished statesman, and passionate community builder, he represents a new generation of traditional leadership—one that honours the wisdom of the past while embracing the opportunities of the future.

From his early years as a prince of the illustrious Olupejobi Royal Dynasty, through distinguished service in government and the legislature, to his ascension to the throne of his forefathers, every chapter of his journey reflects an unwavering commitment to the welfare, unity, and progress of his people.
About the King

Born into the distinguished Olupejobi Royal Dynasty in the early 1970s, His Royal Majesty is the Aremo (first son) of the late His Royal Majesty, Oba Ganiyu Odewale Odesanya-Oloto, Olupejobi I, and the late Olori Ayishat Odesanya-Oloto.
Even from an early age, he exhibited exceptional discipline, intelligence, humility, and leadership qualities that would later define his public life.
His educational journey began at Christ Church Cathedral Primary School, Lagos, where he studied from 1977 to 1983 before proceeding to the prestigious Methodist Boys’ High School, Lagos, where he completed his secondary education between 1983 and 1989.
Driven by an enduring desire to serve society, he pursued higher education at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Political Science in 1998. His academic background provided a solid foundation in governance, public administration, and nation-building.
A Distinguished Career in Public Service
Following his university education, His Royal Majesty began his professional career in the Lagos State Civil Service, where his exceptional work ethic and administrative competence quickly earned recognition.
His dedication led to his appointment as Personal Assistant to the then Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. In this important role, he became known for his professionalism, loyalty, diligence, and exemplary service, gaining invaluable experience in governance and public administration.

In May 2011, his passion for grassroots development and public service culminated in his election as the Honourable Member representing Lagos Mainland Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Throughout his tenure, he distinguished himself as a responsive, accessible, and people-focused legislator whose work was driven by a genuine desire to improve the lives of his constituents.
His legislative achievements included:
• Improving environmental sanitation and reducing flooding through extensive drainage clearing and desilting projects.
• Providing free GCE registration forms for indigent students.
• Establishing an annual football competition to promote youth development, unity, and sporting excellence.
• Facilitating the rehabilitation and reconstruction of major roads within the constituency.
• Creating employment opportunities through recruitment into the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps.
• Awarding vocational and technical education scholarships to deserving students.
• Expanding access to clean water through the construction of strategically located boreholes.
• Facilitating the construction of a pipe-borne water scheme for the Otto community.
• Improving electricity supply through the installation of transformers in underserved communities.
• Sponsoring legislative advocacy that led to the replacement of an unsafe pedestrian bridge.
• Facilitating university admissions for qualified students.
• Supporting vulnerable families during Eid-el-Kabir through the distribution of food items and sacrificial rams.
These initiatives transformed communities, empowered young people, expanded educational opportunities, improved infrastructure, and strengthened public confidence in representative leadership.
Ascension to the Throne
On 22 November 2022, His Royal Majesty ascended the ancestral throne as Olupejobi II, succeeding his late father as the traditional ruler of the Otto and Mainland Kingdom.
His ascension marked not merely the continuation of a royal lineage but the beginning of a new chapter dedicated to strengthening traditional institutions while promoting sustainable development and inclusive leadership.
A Visionary Reign
Since ascending the throne, His Royal Majesty has continued to modernise and strengthen the traditional institution through the installation of the Olu of Iwaya and the appointment of several customary chiefs, including the Baales of Okobaba, Sango, Ago Egba, Iponri, Tejuosho, and Obele-Odan.
He has also honoured distinguished individuals with prestigious honorary chieftaincy titles, including Bobagunwa, Yeye Bobagunwa, Erelu, Asipa, Lisa, and Olowa of Otto and Mainland Kingdom, recognising exceptional contributions to the Kingdom and humanity.
Beyond preserving tradition, His Royal Majesty has championed sustainable urban development through close collaboration with the Lagos State Government on the regeneration of the Otto, Otumara, and Ilaje communities. This transformative initiative seeks to create a modern metropolitan environment with improved infrastructure, enhanced housing, environmental renewal, and expanded economic opportunities for residents.

As custodian of the customs, traditions, and cultural heritage of the Oloto Royal Dynasty, His Royal Majesty continues to lead with wisdom, compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to peace, unity, and development.
